Hyperfest Race Reportby Adam Curpier Saturday Qualifying: Luckily, we were both able to get a clean lap, as traffic was horrible ... 50+ cars on the track. When qualifying times were released, Pete qualified on Pole Position, and myself in Second Place! Race: The event was well spectated, so it was great for everyone to see both cars at the front of the pack! The race started well. We both were able to get good launches from the standing start. We ran 1-2 for the first few laps, until the race was halted by a red flag (2 out of class cars collided). The race was restarted (new race). Pete ran in first position, myself in third. With a lap into the race, Pete had a tire blowout, so he had to retire from the race. I continued to run in second position for the next couple of laps, but made contact with another H1 car. Unfortunately, I was disqualified. I did however, turn the second fastest lap time of the day! Sunday Qualifying was tough, as all competitors had difficulty getting a clean lap. Pete qualified 5th, myself in 9th. Race: Pete and I both had amazing starts. Pete gained 2 positions, myself 5 positions in the first lap. We ran in third and fourth position for the majority of the race. Pete was able to gain a position in the last lap of the race to finish in second place, myself in fourth.
