![]() Photo by: Mike Collins The East Coast Honda-Challenge got underway on April 1 - 2, 2006 at Shenandoah Circuit. On Saturday, Pete Curpier was fastest in the practice session and put the car on pole position for the race. Pete rocketed off the start and was able to put a large gap on the field. All was going well, until with 4 laps remaining, the car lost all electrical power. Pete pulled the car off track and was able to get the car re-fired. By the time he got back on course, he had lost first place to Kevin Helms driving the Hondaworks Civic EK. Pete was able reel Kevin in with a blistering lap record pace to regain the race lead and take the class win! On Sunday, the Hondaworks car of Kevin Helms was on pole, with Pete right along side. Pete and Kevin diced back and forth for the first few laps, with Pete eventually taking the lead. The Hondaworks car blew an engine, and Pete cruised on the overall win! Pete Curpier now has the Shenandoah track record at: 1:37.73 |
